YouTube Description
as posted by the channelTreasury Secretary Scott Bessent will give remarks Wednesday morning on the global economy as part of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank meetings in Washington.
Bessent's speech comes as President Trump's sweeping tariff agenda has raised concerns about a recession at home and the trade war beyond. While Trump paused most reciprocal tariffs on foreign trading partners — minus China — his 10 percent baseline import tax is still in place.
The president on Tuesday also suggested that the additional 125 percent reciprocal tax on Beijing, on top of the 20 percent existing tariffs, could be lessened in upcoming days.
The Treasury chief will likely be tasked with promoting more investment in the U.S. and negotiations over the tariffs.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT.
