During an all-night session on Capitol Hill, three lawmaker fell asleep as House Republicans advanced President Donald Trump's expansive budget proposal, known as the "big, beautiful bill." The House Ways and Means Committee approved the tax component of the package with a 26-19 party-line vote following a 17-hour debate.

The legislation proposes over $5 trillion in tax cuts, including eliminating taxes on tips, Social Security income, and car loan interest. It also calls for significant reductions in Medicaid, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and green energy initiatives.

The bill advanced through the House last month with a narrow 216-214 vote, allowing lawmakers to begin formal work on the measure.
