The measure narrowly passed the House before lawmakers in both chambers left for the Memorial Day recess, and any changes the Senate makes could upset the tenuous balance Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) struck to get it through his razor-thin majority.
But both moderate and conservative Republicans in the upper chamber are clamoring for changes to provisions involving Medicaid, green energy tax credits, deficit reduction and the debt ceiling. These could start coming into view today.
