YouTube Description
as posted by the channelTransportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced early Wednesday that the Trump administration would take control over Washington’s Union Station, citing infrastructure issues.
“Instead of being a point of pride, Washington’s Union Station has fallen into disrepair,” Duffy said Wednesday in a statement. “By reclaiming station management, we will help make this city safe and beautiful at a fraction of the cost.”
The announcement comes amid President Trump’s takeover of local law enforcement in the nation’s capital. National Guard soldiers, deployed as part of the president’s crack down on crime in the district, have also been posted outside of Union Station for more than a week.
Duffy is also set to join the inaugural ride on a new Amtrak high-speed Acela route that will service Washington, D.C. to Boston.
His remarks are scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m. EDT.
