President Trump is slated to give remarks from the Oval Office on Friday related to his push to rebrand the Defense Department as the Department of War.

Trump is expected to sign an executive order to revert the department back to a previous label, after signaling in recent weeks that he believes it better reflects the Pentagon’s offensive operations.

The Department of War was first established by George Washington in 1789 and existed until 1947. It was renamed the Department of Defense in 1949.

Trump's comments follow legislation that was unveiled by GOP lawmakers earlier Friday that would bolster the rebrand. It also comes on the heels of another dismal jobs report.

The event is scheduled for 4 p.m. EDT.
