YouTube Description
as posted by the channelHouse Democrats will give remarks on Friday morning as the lower chamber prepares to vote on a stopgap funding bill to avert a shutdown at the end of the month.
The continuing resolution (CR) bill, unveiled by Republicans on Tuesday, would keep the lights on until Nov. 21. GOP leaders who crafted the legislation aim to set up a repeat of their strategy from March: Cut Democrats out of the talks, dare Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to force a government shutdown — and hope he will fold as he did before.
Democrats have pushed back on being left out of the talks and pressed their Republican colleagues to take action on extending the Affordable Care Act subsidies that expire at the end of the year, and rolling back Medicaid cuts passed into law under President Trump’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill Act.”
The press conference is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. EDT.
