House Democratic leaders will speak to reporters Wednesday morning after the government shut down overnight.

Democrats have stood firm on their demands for their GOP colleagues to expand subsidies under the Affordable Care Act that expire later this year and to scale back cuts made to Medicaid in the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.”

After three Democratic senators bucked their party to support the package, GOP leaders indicated they are focused on winning over the requisite five additional Dems needed to put their seven-week stopgap over the line.

Both sides have sought to cast blame on the other for the lapse in funding, with the Trump administration sending emails to employees at some agencies blaming Democrats for the shutdown.

The press conference is expected to begin at 11:15 a.m. EDT.
