as posted by the channel

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and GOP congressional leaders will give remarks Wednesday morning after the government shutdown hit its one-week mark.

As the Senate is expected to once again take up votes on two dueling stopgap funding bills and Republicans have pressed their Democratic colleagues to pass the GOP-led “clean” continuing resolution that would fund the government at previous spending levels until mid-November.

The press conference also comes as Johnson signaled support for furloughed federal workers receiving backpay despite President Trump’s suggestion that it is not guaranteed. He is also facing pressure for delaying the swear-in ceremony of newly-elected Rep. Adalita Grijalva (D-Ariz.).

The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT.
