Trump said on Truth Social on Tuesday that the ceremony would be held in the Rose Garden due to the “big and enthusiastic” crowd expected to attend.
Kirk, a leading voice in the MAGA movement, was shot in the neck at Utah Valley University while speaking to a large crowd during an event billed as “The American Comeback Tour.”
Trump spoke at Kirk’s memorial service last month, which was held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
“He did not hate his opponents. He wanted the best for them,” Trump said of Kirk. “That’s where I disagreed with Charlie. I hate my opponents, and I don’t want the best for them. I’m sorry.”
Trump’s comments contrasted with a speech delivered by Kirk’s widow, Erika, who said she forgave her husband’s suspected killer.
Erika Kirk has since taken over as CEO of Turning Point USA, the group Charlie Kirk founded and led.
