as posted by the channelPresident Trump will meet Monday afternoon with members of the 2026 World Cup task force, which he established in March to help plan the quadrennial soccer tournament being hosted next year in cities across the Americas.
Trump named himself chair of the task force, Vice President Vance as vice chair and various Cabinet secretaries and senior officials as members, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Trump tapped Andrew Giuliani, the son of former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, as executive director of the task force.
The World Cup will be hosted by 16 different cities, including 11 in the U.S., including Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle. Toronto and Vancouver will also host games in Canada, along with Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey in Mexico.
The World Cup final will be played in MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
FIFA, the world soccer governing body, last week announced the creation of a peace prize, which it plans to award for the first time at the draw for the World Cup on Dec. 5 in Washington.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who has a close relationship with President Donald Trump, would not tip his hand Wednesday when asked if Trump will be the first recipient of the award.
Trump lobbied hard for the Nobel Peace Prize this year, but it was ultimately awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado.
