YouTube Description
as posted by the channelFormer Vice President Dick Cheney, who died last month at the age of 84, will be honored Thursday during a funeral service at Washington National Cathedral in the nation’s capital.
Tributes will be delivered by former President George W. Bush and former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), the late vice president’s daughter, among others. Former President Biden and Speaker Emerita Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) are also expected to attend the ceremony, while President Trump and Vice President Vance are not.
Cheney will be remembered for his influence on foreign policy while serving under the Bush administration. His death has also cast a spotlight on the ways in which he and his family have been ostracized from the Trump-led GOP.
Due to the record-long government shutdown, the former vice president did not lie in state at the Capitol — a tradition reserved for government officials and military leaders.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. EST.
