28:29Now PlayingHouse Speaker Mike Johnson on Tuesday afternoon will host the annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony at the Capitol — a day after the White House unveiled its decorations for the holiday season.
This year’s tree is a 53-foot red fir from the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada, according to the Architect of the Capitol, which selects the tree each year. It will remain lit from dusk until 11 p.m. each evening through early January 2026.
Johnson will be joined by the Nevada congressional delegation.
The event is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. EST.
