The legislation, sponsored by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), seeks to require radio corporations to pay performers for playing their music. Simmons, along with more than 300 major artists, signed a letter earlier this year urging lawmakers to pass the bill.
“Having spent my career in the music and entertainment industry, I understand the vital importance of this issue. The American Music Fairness Act represents sound public policy,” Simmons said in a recent statement. “Artists must be properly compensated for their creative work.”
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. EST.
