35:20Now PlayingSenate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) is holding a press conference Wednesday morning in support of extending health care subsidies under the Affordable Care Act as insurance premiums are set to rise in 2026.
The upper chamber of Congress is expected to vote Thursday on a GOP proposal to replace the enhanced subsidies — which would include health savings accounts that would receive federal contributions to pay out-of-pocket expenses.
Despite the potential movement, many lawmakers have expressed concern that a potential extension may not be passed before the enhanced tax credits expire at the end of the year.
Democratic Sens. Amy Klobuchar (Minn.), Ron Wyden (Ore.), Chris Murphy (Conn.) and Andy Kim (N.J.) are set to give remarks.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10:15 a.m. EST.
