5:21:03Now PlayingThe House is set to vote Wednesday on the health care proposal unveiled earlier this month by Republicans.
The legislation includes items broadly popular among the GOP but without an extension of the Affordable Care Act subsidies, which are set to expire at the end of the year. Despite a push from moderate Republicans to add an amendment with enhanced tax credits as premiums rise, the Rules Committee voted Tuesday to shut it down.
Democrats in the lower chamber also launched their own discharge petition last month to force a vote on a 3-year extension of the COVID-era subsidies. The effort gained at least one GOP signature: Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick.
A procedural vote on the measure is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. EST, followed by debate. A final vote is expected later Wednesday.
