President Trump has signaled that the U.S. will temporarily run the South American nation and its oil infrastructure after Maduro was arrested and indicted in New York. Trump late Tuesday said Venezuela would turn over 30-50 million barrels of oil.
The briefing also comes after the U.S. seized another oil tanker linked to Venezuela.
The Trump administration is also mulling action in other countries including Mexico, Cuba and Colombia and has reignited its quest to acquire Greenland from Denmark.
The event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. EST.
