The press conference also comes after the Senate advanced a bipartisan resolution on the War Powers Act to block the administration from using military force in the South American nation. The measure now heads to the House — where a similar measure failed last month — and faces a certain veto from the president.
Democrats have railed against U.S. strikes in Venezuela in recent days and pushed back on Trump's threats to other countries, including Mexico, Colombia and Cuba.
