YouTube Description
as posted by the channelHouse Democrats, led by Reps. Bennie Thompson (Miss.) and Ilhan Omar (Minn.), will give remarks Wednesday afternoon on last week's fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer.
Lawmakers on the left have blasted the Trump administration for its justification in shooting 37-year-old Renee Good during an immigration enforcement operation. President Trump and his officials have maintained that the officer acted in self-defense, calling Good a "domestic terrorist" who tried to use her vehicle as a weapon and refused to open an investigation into the officer.
Democrats have offered a flurry of proposals to rein in the Department of Homeland Security in the wake of the incident, which has sparked protests.
Some critics have called for Noem's resignation and Rep. Robin Kelly (D-Ill.) announced plans earlier Wednesday to file articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
The event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. EST.
