Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have expressed concerns over the administration's moves in the South American country, including President Trump's vow to run Venezuela and his plans for the nation's robust oil reserves.
Senators failed to move a war powers resolution over the finish line last month that would have limited Trump's authority in the country after Republicans accepted Rubio's word that the U.S. would not use military force in the region.
The hearing also comes as the administration faces scrutiny over its continued strikes on alleged drug trafficking boats in the Caribbean. More than 120 people have been killed in the attacks since September.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EST.
