22:45Now PlayingHouse Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar (Calif.) and other top Democrats will speak with reporters Tuesday morning as the lower chamber of Congress is set to vote on a funding package to end the partial government shutdown.
Democrats have a big decision to make after the House Rules Committee advanced the spending package, which includes a two-week stopgap for the Department of Homeland Security. The caucus has been pushing for reforms within the agency in the wake of two fatal shootings at the hands of federal immigration officials last month, and many have threatened Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem with possible impeachment proceedings.
Noem announced Monday that the federal agents in Minneapolis, where the deaths took place, would now wear body cameras as the Trump administration maintains the officers fired the shots in self-defense.
The press conference is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. EST.
