House Democrats kicked off their annual retreat Wednesday afternoon, less than a day after President Trump criticized and clashed with members of the caucus during his record-long State of the Union address.

While many Democrats in both chambers of Congress chose to boycott the speech altogether, Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Wash.) and Al Green (D-Texas) heckled Trump during the remarks.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday Trump's rhetoric during the address as being “riddled with dirty rotten lies.”

The lawmakers are likely to use the time together to back against the Trump administration's domestic agenda, including his immigration agenda amid the Department of Homeland Security shutdown, affordability concerns and the president's health care policy.

Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D), who is expected to headline the retreat, gave the Democratic response to the president's State of the Union address.
