The U.S. and Israel launched joint strikes on Iran over the weekend, killing supreme leader Ali Khamenei. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth earlier Wednesday previewed that more military action was imminent.
"More and larger waves are coming. We are just getting started," Hegseth told reporters. "We are accelerating, not decelerating. Iran’s capabilities are evaporating by the hour, while American strength grows fiercer, smarter and utterly dominant."
Secretary of State Marco Rubio also defended the efforts on Tuesday evening during a briefing with lawmakers.
President Trump has faced pushback over the administration's justification for the strikes as many American citizens remain stranded in the Middle East amid a counterattack from Iran.
