34:00Now PlayingHouse Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Republican leaders will give remarks Wednesday morning as funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is still up in the air, despite proposals from both sides of the aisle.
Mounting callouts and resignations at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) amid the stalemate have caused travel delays and long wait times at airport security checkpoints. Some airlines have also paused benefits for lawmakers.
House Republicans, however, continue to push back against the idea of splitting up legislation to fund non-immigration enforcement agencies under DHS — including TSA and the Federal Emergency Management Agency — despite the White House and Senate GOP signaling President Trump is open to doing just that.
"I can tell you, the House has funded DHS twice. We’re prepared to do it again," Johnson said Tuesday. "Completely fund the entire department. That is the responsible way to do this thing."
