Pakistani intermediaries who delivered the proposal to Iran told The Associated Press that it includes sanctions relief, civilian nuclear cooperation, missile limits, a rollback of Iran's nuclear program and monitoring by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Officials in Tehran, according to Iranian state media, have dismissed the initial terms of a deal. They have also pushed back on the Trump administration's suggestions that negotiations were underway between the U.S. and Iran over the war that began on Feb. 28.
Trump had warned the Islamic Republican that the U.S. would target energy sites in the Islamic Republic if it refused to open the Strait of Hormuz, a key passageway for the transport of oil. On Monday, he paused the threat, citing "productive" talks, as gas prices remain high.
