The administration is touting the proposal as a win for the "Make America Healthy Again" (MAHA) movement.
“For too long, Americans have vocalized concerns about plastics and pharmaceuticals in their drinking water," Zeldin said in a written statement that was first shared with The Hill. "That ends today."
The EPA will add these substances and others, including "forever chemicals," to a draft of its “Sixth Contaminant Candidate List,” which puts the chemicals on track for potential regulation under the Safe Drinking Water Act. Such regulations could require water utilities to filter them out of household taps.
The event is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. EDT.
