“My fellow Americans, over the past several hours, the United States Military pulled off one of the most daring Search and Rescue Operations in U.S. History, for one of our incredible Crew Member Officers, who also happens to be a highly respected Colonel, and who I am thrilled to let you know is now SAFE and SOUND!” the president wrote in a Truth Social post shortly after midnight Sunday.
A F-15E Strike Eagle, with two service members, was downed by Iranian forces over the Middle Eastern country’s airspace on Friday. One crew member was rescued by U.S. forces later in the day, as search and rescue operations continued for the second officer, who was found Sunday.
