The 10-day mission, launched last Wednesday, marked the first crewed test flight to travel toward the moon in more than five decades. On Monday, the crew aboard the Orion spacecraft traveled farther from the Earth than any other mission in history.
President Trump called the astronauts — commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist Christina Koch and Canadian Space Agency Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen — on Monday evening to congratulate them on the mission. He invited them to the White House upon their return and suggested he would ask for their autographs.
