Vance's two-day trip to the region comes after President Trump endorsed Orbán in a lengthy post on Truth Social in February, calling him a “highly respected [and a] truly strong and powerful leader with a proven track record of delivering phenomenal results.” The election is on Sunday, and the Hungarian prime minister is currently trailing in the polls.
Orbán traveled to Washington late last year, and the conversation mostly surrounded his request to continue receiving oil from Russia after the U.S. placed sanctions on exports amid the war in Ukraine.
The vice president is also expected to attend a campaign rally for Orbán on Wednesday.
