Trump, who alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio has floated pulling the U.S. out of NATO, blasted the trans-Atlantic alliance following the meeting as being unreliable and not there "when we need them."
Rutte has largely backed the U.S.-Israeli operation in Iran, many allies have spurned the president's calls to contribute to the military effort and to help police the Strait of Hormuz.
The event, hosted by the Reagan Institute's Center for Peace Through Strength, is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. EDT.
