The crew — Cmdr. Reid Wiseman, pilot Victor Glover, mission specialist Christina Koch and Canadian Space Agency mission specialist Jeremy Hansen — embarked on the lunar fly-by mission on April 1, the first crewed journey to the moon in more than 50 years. Their Orion spacecraft is expected to splash down off San Diego on Friday night.
Artemis II's return to Earth will be assisted by a precisely choreographed sequence of parachutes, Navy divers and military helicopters, according to The Hill's sister network NewsNation.
NASA's coverage is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. EDT, and the splashdown is estimated to occur at approximately 8:07 p.m.
