2:12:35Now PlayingOffice of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russ Vought will testify before the Senate Budget Committee on Thursday morning on President Trump’s fiscal 2027 White House budget request.
The request calls for $1.5 trillion in defense spending — roughly 42 percent higher than 2026 — and proposes cutting non-defense spending by $73 billion. The funding cuts, according to the memo, impact “woke, weaponized, and wasteful programs,” and would return some state and local responsibilities “to their respective governments.”
The OMB director faced questions from the House a day earlier, during which Vought sparred with Democrats over the proposed spending cuts.
