31:46Now PlayingTreasury Secretary Scott Bessent will lead Thursday afternoon's White House press briefing, hours after the new app for the Trump administration's newborn investment accounts went live.
President Trump has touted the investments, dubbed "Trump accounts" and established under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, as another economic win ahead of the midterms. Under the plans, the Treasury Department deposits $1,000 in seed money in the accounts to parents whose children were porn between Jan. 1, 2025, and Dec. 31, 2028.
Bessent's turn at the podium also comes as turmoil between the U.S. and Iran heats up, following two recent strikes in the Islamic Republic's southern region. Earlier Thursday, the administration also announced new sanctions against an Iranian firm looking to charge tolls in the Strait of Hormuz.
