The hearing came as the United States faces a resurgence of the screwworm, a parasitic fly that can have a devasting impact on livestock. The pest had been eliminated in the U.S. since the 1960s.
Rollins has placed much of the blame for its comeback on policies during former President Biden’s administration. In contrast, the secretary asserted, the Trump administration has put in place a plan to contain the insect.
