25:06Now PlayingPresident Trump is set to give a primetime address to the nation Thursday evening from the White House.
Trump has teased that the “very big speech” will touch on voting machines and election integrity among other topics. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, in her first briefing since returning from maternity leave, confirmed that the address would focus heavily on secure elections ahead of November, which she said should be a non-partisan issue.
The president has repeatedly claimed the 2020 election was stolen from him, without evidence, and has recently pressured Senate Republicans to pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act. If passed, the legislation would require photo identification and proof of citizenship while registering to vote and when casting a ballot.
