Earlier this week, the president slapped new tariffs on Canada over what the Trump administration deemed unfair trade practices. The additional 50 percent levy on certain goods prompted criticism from some Republicans and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who called the import taxes a breach of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement.
The administration also recently hit Brazil with a 25 percent tariff that went into effect on Wednesday.
