3:05:55Now PlayingDr. Anthony Fauci, the former chief White House medical adviser, will testify Wednesday before the Senate Homeland Security Committee on gain of function research, bringing the debate about the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic back into the spotlight.
The hearing comes just days after Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who chairs the committee, released more than 1,000 pages of entries from Fauci's personal journal. In the posts, written between 2020 and 2022, the doctor wrote about the uncertainty around COVID's origins, media attention surrounding him and the virus, his relationship with President Trump and other topics.
Paul has maintained his belief that Fauci allegedly covered up the U.S.'s involvement in lab research in China that resulted in the deadly coronavirus pandemic.
The event is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. ET.
