8:42Now PlayingAt the annual Netroots Nation conference, protesters pushed Bernie Sanders to speak out on behalf of Sandra Bland and the Black Lives Matter movement. He got flustered, but ultimately acknowledged that their grievances are legitimate and has since been speaking out frequently about police brutality. Many progressives—both on the Black Lives Matters side and Bernie Sanders' side—are torn, but we argue that this is a GOOD thing for both sides; BLM has a new champion in Bernie, and he is now able to demonstrate how receptive he is to race issues and hopefully get his name out there to more non-white voters.
