However, there’s an issue with his campaign message: he’s the worst messenger ever. Raymond has been charged with four counts of child cruelty following multiple allegations of physical abuse during his tenure as the headmaster of a christian academy. To make matters worse, the Louisiana Republican Party—who also says it wants to “protect” children from LGBTQ people—has decided to endorse his campaign over another Republican with the same platform, but no child cruelty charges. And, as if this story wasn’t already bizarre enough, John Raymond was a contestant on Survivor in 2002. We’ll break down the entire story in this video.
