26:41Now PlayingFrancesca Hong’s defeat forced some leftists to do a little soul-searching and ask themselves whether or not they took things too far with ‘woke 1’ after her old tweets from 2020 came back to haunt her campaign. In response to Hong’s tweet about Thanksgiving, AOC echoed Chi Ossé’s comment about woke 1 being “crazy.” Similarly, Zohran Mamdani repudiated his ‘defund the police’ position—a remnant from the woke 1.0 era—when he was asked if he agreed with AOC’s assessment of woke 1. While many leftists think their pivot is necessary to broaden their appeal, others are pointing out the pitfalls in fully abandoning woke 1 entirely. In this video Mike dives into the woke 1 discourse and talks about valid concerns being brought up by both sides.
