She Called Home on Thanksgiving. Then Bengie Lynn Tyson Vanished.

On Thanksgiving morning in 2009, Bengie Lynn Tyson called her parents and her son from Montana. She never came home. Sixteen years later, the Carbon County case is still open. Let's take a deep dive into this mystery.

Bengie Lynn Tyson was 32 when she disappeared in Nov. 2009 while traveling in Montana with her boyfriend, James D. Clemons, who also used the name Andrew Brown. Tyson, who lived in Phoenix and worked as a waitress, had maintained regular contact with her family and young son. On Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2009, she spoke with her parents and son from the Red Lodge area. It was the last confirmed contact anyone had with her.

Clemons told investigators that after an argument, he dropped Tyson off in Park City and later saw her walking toward a vehicle. Tyson’s family has questioned that account, particularly because Clemons did not report her missing. Her blue 1999 Chevrolet Silverado also disappeared; its tracking device was disabled in January 2010 after the truck traveled to Portland, Oregon.

The case remains a missing-person investigation. In 2025, renewed publicity generated new tips, and investigators said they remain hopeful someone will finally provide the information needed to determine what happened to Bengie.
