Theist Rich calls in from Massachusetts with the goal of providing solid arguments for God's existence and engaging the hosts in a hypothetical scenario. However, things go downhill quickly when Rich relies on faith as a method (which Eric points out leads to contradictory conclusions), makes circular arguments about "creation" requiring a "creator," and falls back on personal experience. The conversation reaches peak frustration when Rich presents a poorly constructed hypothetical about an angel visit that Matt methodically tears apart for being dishonest and presumptuous. Matt delivers a brilliant analogy about a boss firing an employee who acts on assumptions rather than facts, leading to the memorable moment where Matt "fires" Rich. The call ends with Matt challenging Rich to pray to his God for better arguments and call back with the divine response.
