9:57Now PlayingThis is a TYT Nation submission about the "monkey bill" in Tennessee, and what American scientists are saying about it. This bill allows teachers in Tennessee schools to challenge and critique the accepted science surrounding evolution and climate change. The bill's language describes an "objective" take on these scientific topics, but ultimately allows for teachers to miseducate and mislead students their students, which will hurt them in the future. The ACLU and the Tennessee Science Teachers Association attempted to get the Tennessee governor to veto the proposed bill, but failed to stop it's passing. However, evolution is not necessarily up for debate, and teaching alternatives, such as intelligent design, could open the doors to teaching that the earth is flat, or other "controversies" in science class. What other effects could this bill have on the children of Tennessee? Will this bill get overturned in the Supreme Court, even with the vague and open language of it?
