According to the Las Vegas Sun, Sanders appeared in front of 2,800 people in Las Vegas late Sunday and pounded away at Trump over his anti-immigrant positions.
Referring to Trump’s plans to deport over 11 million undocumented immigrants and build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico, Sanders was blunt in his assessment of the GOP candidate.
“To Donald Trump or anyone else in this country who refer to people from Mexico as rapists and criminals,” he said. “That is not an American value, that is old fashioned racism and we will not tolerate it!”
“It is not an American value to talk about rounding up millions of people and simply say that we are going to throw them out of the country. That is xenophobia,” he continued.
Sanders described his campaign as “the beginning of the dismantling of an excessively wasteful $18 billion deportation regime.”
