"Most voters have little faith that either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump would be able to keep some of their biggest campaign promises if they were elected president, a new poll finds.
Just 24 percent believe Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, would build a wall along America’s border with Mexico, according to the Quinnipiac University survey released Thursday.
Thirty-nine percent say the billionaire will try, but fail, while 29 percent believe he would achieve one of his biggest policy positions.
Only 19 percent think Trump would deport the nation’s 11 million illegal immigrants, while 45 percent say he would make a failed attempt, and 29 percent say he would not even try.
Voters have the most optimism in Trump’s pledge to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the U.S., with 29 percent thinking he would succeed. Forty-two percent say he would fall short of that goal, however, and 21 percent say Trump would not even try the move.
Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner, has scant credibility with voters as well.
Sixty-three percent believe she would never try removing secret money from politics, while 18 percent say she would make a futile attempt and 9 percent say she would succeed.
Fifty-six percent, meanwhile, do not buy Clinton's call to curb Wall Street’s influence in politics, with 21 percent saying she would try but fail and 15 percent saying she would succeed."
