9:03Now PlayingOn April 10th, 2026, Kevin Hassett — Trump's top economic adviser — sat down with Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business and bragged. He bragged about eliminating 300,000 federal jobs "gone forever." He bragged about a $600 billion deficit reduction. He credited Trump's tax cut — the one that mostly benefited the wealthy — for "supply side effects."
The CBO says the deficit dropped $41 billion. Not $600 billion. Less than one-tenth of what Hassett claimed. Economist Dean Baker — a longtime collaborator of Hassett's — called it out publicly.
We're breaking down who those 300,000 workers actually are, what their elimination does to real Americans, and why the "supply side" argument is a 45-year con that has never once delivered what it promised.
