Then Trump declared "Liberation Day." China retaliated with a 120% tariff on American hardwood.
Wilson had $400,000 worth of lumber on ships heading to China when the tariffs hit. He lost 40% on that shipment. Then new tariffs on furniture and cabinetry killed his remaining customer base.
50 workers lost their jobs in a county of 11,000 people that still hasn't recovered from losing its paper mill 20 years ago. This is what he voted for.
