7:05Now PlayingOn January 14, 2026, ICE agent Christian Castro fired through the front door of a Minneapolis home and shot a Venezuelan immigrant, Julio Sosa-Celis, in the leg.
DHS said the agent was attacked with a snow shovel and a broom. Then the video came out — and showed otherwise.
The Justice Department was forced to drop its federal charges against the two men who'd been shot at.
Now the only person facing criminal charges is the agent. Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty and Minnesota AG Keith Ellison have charged Castro with four counts of second-degree assault and one count of falsely reporting a crime. And because it's a state case under Minnesota statute — not a federal one — any conviction is ineligible for a presidential pardon.
The federal charges went to the victims and vanished. The state charge went to the agent, and it's pardon-proof.
