7:12Now PlayingA community that swung hard for Trump in 2024 — Latino business owners who bought the "good for business" pitch — is now living the buyer's remorse out loud.
Support among Latino business owners has cratered from 69% to 39%, a 30-point collapse, and the head of the U.S. Hispanic Business Council says it plainly: "The very guy that we thought would fix things for me, and make my life better — these circumstances are even worse now."
A 25% tariff on goods from Mexico hit a community where nearly half of Latino-owned businesses import or export to operate. And the immigration crackdown did the rest — when customers are too scared to be seen in public, they stop shopping. Two engines of the same local economy seizing at once: the cost of goods climbing, and the customers staying home.
They were sold "good for business." They got higher costs and emptier stores. And the midterms are months away.
