9:05Now PlayingDonald Trump was found liable for sexually abusing E. Jean Carroll and defaming her. He appealed and lost. He appealed again and lost. The Supreme Court refused to hear it. Two weeks ago he finally paid — $5.62 million.
That should have been the end. Instead, his Department of Justice has opened an investigation into American Future Republic — the nonprofit tied to LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman that helped fund Carroll's legal fees. The probe reportedly landed in Chicago. It is not illegal to help fund someone's lawsuit. It's how a regular person can afford to take on a billionaire.
The entire 2024 campaign ran on one promise: that Democrats had "weaponized" the Justice Department, and it would never happen again. Then Bill O'Reilly called for Carroll to be criminally prosecuted, and the DOJ made it real. He lost a sex-abuse case, and pointed the federal government at the woman who won. Every accusation, a confession.
