11:25Now PlayingCE agents shot and killed two men in one week. According to the Department of Homeland Security's own accounts, neither man was the person they were sent to find.
In Houston, an ICE officer shot Lorenzo Salgado Araujo — a homebuilder who had lived in the U.S. for 35 years — as he drove his construction crew to a job site. A week later in Biddeford, Maine, an officer shot 25-year-old Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, a Colombian national with a wife and young daughter.
In both cases the officers had no body cameras, and in both cases witnesses dispute the government's story.
After a third man died in Florida fleeing federal agents, Trump's own DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin suspended most ICE vehicle stops — a pause a Republican senator, Susan Collins, had personally requested.
One day later, President Trump publicly overruled them, demanding ICE
keep making traffic stops.
At least 10 people have died in the immigration crackdown. Not one officer has been charged. This is who those men were, why the traffic stop keeps producing bodies, and what it means that the President killed the pause on the record.
